Marching Band

Real-time Simulation

Marching Band is an experiment into self-generating art, inspired by the work of John Gerrard. The world I created is in fact generated in real time, and uses cartography streamed from a map provider. Surface area is assembled using tiles, creating an evolving landscape that is virtual yet real at the same time. Furthermore, the lighting within the scene corresponds to the time of day during screening.

It was eventually exhibited using two beamers, one from the birds eye perspective and the other from a regular projection hight, both projecting the real time simulation.
