Portfolio site for documentary photographer Nina Schollaardt, a recent graduate from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and photographer for Het Parool. The site is statically built using Nextjs and GraphCMS, and hosted on Vercel.
In her work, Nina tries to combine traditional documentary photography and contemporary issues. The website reflects this slight deviation of conservatism. For one, by using a combination of the Dia and Old face typefaces. Dia’s standard cut, a font by Shick Toikka, strides the line between clear and neutral sans-serif and quirky commercial copy. It’s more expressive bold variation works well for headlines, without introducing too much distraction from the photography itself. Furthermore, the color pallette is equally neural, although the slight skin toned offset white deviates from the usual white cube aesthetics.
